TOM HEMMERICK

Tom Hemmerick is originally from Ohio where he received his BFA from Ohio University. He’s been living in Brooklyn since 2006 where he received his MFA from Brooklyn College. But despite being so educated he really learned how to paint working at Colossal Media where he’s been walldogging since 2009.

STATEMENT

Painting for me is a meditation and a practice that I’ve been working at all my life. My work is ordered and balanced even when inviting chaos and chance. Regardless of the image I am working on, I like a solid sturdy painting with bold clear lines. A good painting starts out as a mess and slowly gets cleaned up until all the shapes and colors are in their right place.
